Why do we exist?
From an early age, Mimi's parents always encouraged her to write, simply because she had such a wild imagination and brought characters to life with such ease. But she never did.
As a prolific reader, she always felt there were far more brilliant authors out there and there was no way she could compare.
Now, though, as an adult whose children are grown and starting families of their own, she's realised that writing isn't about 'measuring up', it's about creativity and doing something that brings you joy ... and hopefully brings others joy, too!
Joy is infectious and becomes the seed for further inspiration.
In Mimi's case, it birthed a passion for those experiencing homelessness and vulnerable communities.
All profits from books purchased through Mimi Book World go to charities and initiatives that provide essential services and dignity to those less fortunate.
As the famous saying goes: "There, but for me, go I."
Mission
Mimi's sister spent time on the streets and even though (at the time) she didn't understand it at all, and in fact was honestly appalled by it, she came to realise that circumstances and mental health can be so fragile for many, many in our communities.
To a large extent, the books found in Mimi Book World were inspired in part by Mimi's sister. The children's series' are a reflection of memories of her sisters wildly creative spirit, while the her debut adult novel came from a curiosity (and yes, some deep regret) about the lives of those we have a tendency to turn away from.
The goal is to create works that inspire, connect, encourage reflection and build a foundation of honour in both our little ones and in ourselves.
Vision
Dignity.
That's the vision. Simple as that!
Mimi's passion is to provide resources to the vulnerable in any way she can. Whether it be contributing to funding shower buses and food banks, or simply opening others' eyes to the 'unseen' around them that need a smile, some practical support and basic, human consideration.
Every cent of profit goes to initiatives that aim to restore dignity and humanity.
